One step closer to the job I want

I received a phone call from my course advisor. He told me that my loan application for the course is approwed. So I am quite happy about this news. If everything goes according to plan, I will soon start my training with Computeach. The course is CIW certification course that is recognized by the IT industry.

I found a job to get by

Finally I found a job that has resonable hours. It is from 8am to 5pm and Monday to Friday. I will have lots of time to study towards my new career. I will start my new job on 16 August. Hopefully I will enrol to a home study course by then. I see this new job as a steping stone. It is also a waitering job but as I said it has less and resonable hours. By the way I found this job at UK Catering Jobs.

Learn from my mistakes

Today I carried on searching jobs. However, I would like to give some advise to graduate students or people who would like to start a degree course. As I mentioned in by previous post, I graduated from London South Bank University around two years ago. Although I finished a degree course, I still didn't get any job. It is always easy to blame someone else. The only reason I did not get any job is my laziness. Therefore I would like to say few words to those who are studying or will start studying in a university.

Try to do your work experience, while you are studying. Most of big companies offer internship to those who studies a degree. So just write to them and ask about their graduate programs. I also did this. But after few rejections I stop sending letters. So keep sending your letters and DON'T GIVE UP. Online recruitment agencies also have section that lists provides graduate or internship programs. If you gain your experience before you get your degree, the employment is almost guaranteed. Also use your universities resources in full. Universities have careers departments that would give you useful information. So use this regularly.

I hope this would help somebody.

Trying to find a course

As I want a carrier in IT industry, I need some extra training to refresh my knowledge. Therefore I've done some research on the web about IT courses. I found a company (also saw their ads on TV) that provides the course that is to do with website development. The company is called Computeach. I actually made an appointment with an adviser, who will come and visit me next week. After talking with the adviser I will decide, if I should go ahead or not. I am also looking for more options on the web. Looking forward to meet the adviser. I want to get cracking as soon as possible.

Making important decisions

If you look at the life stories of successful people, they all have something in common. In one point of their life, they all made important decisions that change their life. However, just making decisions are not enough to reach our goals. We also have take actions regarding to those decisions.

By the way these suggestions are came from a book that I believe every living human beings must read. The book is called, Awaken the Giant Within by Tony Robbins. He is a well known author, who also known as life coach of Andrea Agassi and many celebrities. He has many useful tips in his book.

So today I made a decision towards my goal. My decision is to leave the job as a waiter and start developing myself regarding to my desired job in IT industry. I already gave my 2 weeks notice to my manager. For the time being I need a job that has reasonable working hours that will allow me to spend some time on my ambition.

More about me

These past two days I haven't done much. So I decided to tell more about myself in today's blog.
I am 30 years old and living in London for more than 10 years. I must say, I really like London. It is a really nice city, where historic and most modern architectures are layout all around. I am originally from a beautiful country called Turkiye. It is one of the few countries, where you can appreciate the beauty of the four seasons.

I born in a small mining city called Zonguldak. It is located in north of Turkey by the coast of Black Sea. I finished my high school in TED Zonguldak College, which is one of the best schools in Turkey.

After the high school, I moved to London for my further education. However, it took me around 3 years to enter my degree program (BSc Computer Science) in London South Bank University. In 2004 I graduated from university and start looking for a job in IT industry. I must be honest to say, I did not try hard enough to secure a job. So since then, I have been working as a waiter.

Obviously, it really hurts to work as a waiter with a degree in my pocket. I did not pay all that money for my education to work in a restaurant. That is why, I need to change my approach in job hunting and share this experience with others, who have similar experience. I am not going to share, what I done in the past to find a job, as it did not help me, so I don't thing it will help anybody.

The day I decided to change my life

Today I decided to create this blog to help others and myself. It will be about finding the job you really want to do. Basically, I will tell you everything that I will do to get my desired job. Hopefully if I am successful, someone else can use the same techniques that I used and find their desired job. Well if I am unsuccessful than, I will be the perfect example on "What not to do to get the job you really want". In both case I am sure it would help someone.

I am currently working in a takeaway restaurant and serving food to people, who do not know how to say please and thank you. I spent around 70 hours a week at work. This means, I don't have time to go out and enjoy myself. Basically I HAVE NO SOCIAL LIFE.

So today is the day I've decided to change my life and hopefully others.

See you tommorow
